Transgender Plastic Surgery

Being transgender is difficult enough today, finding a qualified Plastic Surgeon who listens to you and understands should not be. Dr. Steven Robinson is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon in Cincinnati, Ohio. While Dr. Robinson does not perform the actual gender re-assignment, he offers many procedures that can help in your transition. These procedures are performed in a fully accredited Outpatient Surgery Center with a board-certified Anesthesiologist present for your comfort. Dr. Robinson offers “top” procedures, facial operations, and body contouring for both Female–to-Male as well as Male-to-Female patients.

A Note about Hormone Therapy

We recognize that, for a variety of reasons, hormone therapy might not be right for everybody. Because of this fact, Dr. Robinson does not require hormones before surgery. However, if you are undergoing medically supervised hormone therapy, it is best to continue it for at least one year before having top surgery. That way, the hormones have been given the chance to make the changes in your body first. We do require a letter of support from your therapist or physician before having your procedure.

Minimal Scar FTM

For FTM top procedures, Dr. Robinson offers minimal scar breast removal and prefers this technique whenever possible. For these patients who have moderate to small breasts, the only incision is around the nipple. (See pictures below)

For those with larger breasts, or excess skin and ptosis (sagging), a longer incision is necessary to remove the extra skin, breast tissue, and leave you with a flat, masculine chest. Also, in many with larger breasts, the nipples will need to be moved and made smaller. This is called a free nipple graft. (See pictures below)

Dr. Robinson also offers ancillary procedures to aide you in your transition. These include facial masculinization surgery, body contouring, and liposuction.

MTF Breast Augmentation

Is a breast augmentation to achieve a more feminine shape For the male to female transgender patient, Dr. Robinson performs breast augmentation, The size, type of implants and incision technique will all be discussed in detail during the consultation. In addition, you will be able to try on breast implant sizers so that you can see what that volume will look like on you.

Dr. Robinson also performs liposuction, body contouring, rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and other feminizing procedures for the face.
