Getting Started
Our objective here at TPSG is to help you achieve the best results possible. The process begins with an evaluation, where we listen to your concerns and desires to then formulate the best plan of action for you. Once we understand your desired outcome, we will recommend the procedure(s) needed to achieve your goals, create a unique journey for you and outline the entire process. This allows you to be informed at every turn and know exactly what to expect every step of the way.
The Procedure
A tummy tuck begins with a long incision along the bikini line. Underlying muscle and tissue are drawn together narrowing the waistline and strengthening the abdominal wall. The skin is pulled down and excess skin is then removed. A new opening is cut for the navel. Some scarring may occur; however, scars will fade with time. The procedure itself is done quickly and efficiently by our board-certified and board-eligible surgeons.
Tummy Tuck After Baby
Many people come in for a tummy tuck after giving birth. Going through such expansion and retraction makes it difficult for your skin and abdominal muscles to bounce back. A tummy tuck can easily remove any excess skin, tighten abdominal wall muscles and flatten out your stomach overall. An added benefit, if you had a C-section we can likely use the same incision to perform the surgery. Typical incisions for a tummy tuck however, run directly above the pubic area and extend from hip to hip, similar to a C-section, but longer.
Recovery
It is to be expected to be generally uncomfortable, very sore and unable to stand upright for the first few days following your tummy tuck. Usually, there are small drains placed on either side of your incision as to alleviate any fluid build-up within your abdominal area, therefore preventing any post-surgical infection, too. As the days progress, all these symptoms will slowly subside and your drains will be easily removed with little to no discomfort. You will be required to wear a garment for weeks following, not only for your comfort, but to assist in the healing process and help you achieve the best result possible. As with any surgery, swelling and some bruising can be anticipated but will dissipate over time. Most people are able to return to work within two weeks, provided that your work does not include lifting any substantial weight.
All in all, a tummy tuck performed by the extremely capable surgeons at The Plastic Surgery Group is a smooth and comfortable process that allows a flat tummy to be easier to attain than ever before. Come in for your complimentary consultation
