Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons complete a minimum of five years of surgical training following medical school, including a plastic surgery residency program.
Plastic surgeons are trained to prevent and handle emergencies, and have a comprehensive education to ensure a patient’s safety.
The extensive training provides technical skills, as well as the aesthetic judgment needed to provide the best care and results.
Any licensed physician can call themselves a “cosmetic” surgeon, even if they have never completed training in an approved plastic surgery program.
For these reasons, when choosing a plastic surgeon, confirm they are certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery.
