Many women find, due to aging, gravity, and the effects of pregnancy, that their breasts have lost their youthfulness. At The Plastic Surgery Group, we have helped many women rejuvenate their figure by restoring the lift and shape that is often lost.
A breast lift (or breast mastopexy) is a procedure to lift and reshape sagging breasts. Factors that contribute to the natural pull of gravity on the breasts include pregnancy and age. Over time the skin begins to lose its elasticity. As a result, the
breasts begin to change their original shape and firmness. A breast lift procedure can help correct sagging skin and restore the shape of a woman’s breasts. Breast lift surgery neither reduces the size nor increases the size of the breast. Implants may be
used in conjunction with a breast lift (mastopexy) to increase firmness and volume in the breasts.
At The Plastic Surgery Group, we are only concerned with how we can help you achieve your goals. That means taking the time to listen and work with you to design your desired look. Our customer-focused approach
facilitates a more relaxed and comfortable environment, which in turn yields the best results.
An incision is made to remove skin and create a new position for the nipple. Skin that was once above the nipple is brought down and together to reshape the breasts. Stitches are used to close the incision giving the
breasts their new shape. Some scarring is to be expected; however, it can usually be hidden in a bra or swimsuit. Consult one of the board-certified plastic surgeons at The Plastic Surgery Group for a thorough explanation of the procedure, risks and what to
expect after the surgery.
Patients should be aware that a breast lift procedure is not a simple operation and that choosing the right plastic surgeon to perform your breast lift is very important when considering this type of surgery.

Breast lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning that you will be discharged from the hospital on the same day your surgery is performed. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Discomfort is
generally mild and is readily controlled with prescription pain medication. Swelling and bruising resolve within one week and you will be able to return to work within five to ten days.
Breast lift surgery necessitates removal of skin, therefore resulting in scars along the lower portion of the breast. Often times these scars fade and can become imperceptible. Unfortunately, because all patients are different,
the final visibility of the scar cannot be predicted. Patients who are interested in breast lift surgery must understand that the surgery involves the exchange of breast position for a possible scar.
Breast lift surgery is not ideal for women planning future pregnancies because with each pregnancy, the breast tissue will stretch the overlying skin and may result in a re-occurrence of the original problem. Therefore, it is advised that you wait
until you are through childbearing to consider breast lift surgery.
After breast lift surgery, your breasts will feel firmer and appear more youthful and uplifted. The position of your areolas and nipples will be improved and your areolas will be more proportioned.
